Gideon was an early recruit for Apocalypse's Horsemen. When the Horsemen attacked Cape Citadel, Gideon's job was to hack into the computer system and gain access to all U.S. missile sites around the world and launch them. Unfortunately, the X-Men arrived and attacked the Horsemen with Magneto preventing Gideon from launching the missiles. Gideon managed to absorb some of Magneto's powers and used them to attack him. However, Magneto drew power from Earth's magnetic field and overloaded Gideon's powers, killing him.
